Why MPs “marinate” the bill on the anti-corruption court: the reason is clear

MP from the faction “people’s front”, the first Deputy head of the profile Committee of the Verkhovna Rada concerning legal policy and justice Leonid Yemets questioned the consideration of the bill on the anti-corruption court in the second reading next week.

According to him, in order to do the job of the speaker of the Verkhovna Rada on the preparation for the second reading of the bill should, as a minimum, to obtain a quorum at the meeting of the Committee.

“We have about 30 members, half of them are deputies of BPP, four people’s deputies represent the people’s front. Today, the main problem of the Committee is the inability to gather a quorum. The deputies did not consider it necessary to go to the meetings or don’t want to create an anti-corruption court, see this as a threat“, — he said.

He also added that the next meeting of the relevant Committee is scheduled for next Wednesday, it according to plan and should be considered a bill about anti-corruption court.

Note, the establishment of the Higher anti-corruption court is one of the main requirements of the International monetary Fund. The IMF insists on the adoption of the bill on WAX in General, wishing to see the court of the new jurisdiction independent from the influence of the current Ukrainian authorities. Thus, the Verkhovna Rada approved in the first reading developed in the presidential Administration draft March 1, but the document of the IMF and the West are not arranged.
