Ukraine in 2017 took 39th place out of 115 in the international ranking of budget transparency.
This was during a press conference reported by Volodymyr Tarnay, expert of the Center “Eidos”, which is a partner of the International Budget Partnership in Ukraine.
According to him, in 2017 Ukraine’s rating increased by 14% compared to the estimate for 2015, which allowed her to rise to 18 positions.
“Ukraine in terms of budget transparency ranks 39th in the world with a total number of points scored – 54. The level of public participation in the budget process – scored 30 points, and the level of budgetary control – 83″ – said Tarnay.
“In Eastern Europe in terms of budget transparency we occupy a position comparable to Poland and Slovakia, which received 59 points. We are ahead of Hungary with only 46 points,” he added.
A rating of IBP – rating of budget transparency, which according to a unified methodology analyzes the budgets of 115 countries and is compiled by an independent expert every 2 years.
It aims to assess the level of budget transparency, to determine whether the Central government timely access to eight key budget documents available online and if they contain these documents complete information on the budget.
Each country receives a score in points (out of a possible 100), which determines its ranking in the Index of budget transparency.
