Next year’s defense budget of Ukraine will amount to about 200 billion UAH. This was stated by the NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov during the meeting on the formation of the defense budget in 2019.
The head of the national security Council reported that according to the forecast of the Cabinet of Ministers of GDP in 2019 will amount to 3.9 trillion hryvnias, “the financing of the security sector and defense of Ukraine, which shall not be less than 5% of GDP, will be about 200 billion hryvnia.”
“The revenue share of the defense budget should be formed exclusively of real reasonable revenues,” – said Turchinov.
According to him, among the priority directions of financing the next year is planned the development and acquisition of modern high-precision missile weapons, artillery weapons, armored vehicles, precision weapons, ammunition and special chemistry products. Also planned is the strengthening of the air defense system of the state and possibilities of aviation Air forces of Ukraine, implementation of the state policy in the sphere of cybersecurity, the implementation of measures for the development and modernization of special communication and information protection, modern arrangement of experimental test sites for testing rockets, ammunition and the like.
“One of the priorities of the defense budget is the implementation of social guarantees for servicemen, primarily to increase their cash collateral that is necessary to preserve the professional core of the Armed forces of Ukraine, National guard of Ukraine and other force structures,” – said Turchinov.
He added that after the formation of the defense budget it will be approved at the meeting of the Council and submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers.
Earlier, the General staff said that in 2019 the Armed forces of Ukraine requires funding of at least 112 billion, which is more spending in 2018, nearly a billion dollars.
