International Gamescom, held in Cologne (Germany), is one of the largest industry events in the world.
According to the official information of the organizing Committee, Gamescom-2018 was attended by a record 370 thousand people from 114 countries of the world. It is important to note that the event is not only impressive entertainment b2c area, which this year was presented to the Ukrainian Studio Frogwares and Creoteam. The most important part of the event profile business area, where the largest game publishers, developers and payment systems meet and establish contacts at their stands.
LeoGaming – Ukrainian processing company once again, for the third consecutive year, was the only Ukrainian fintech company with a stand in the business area, who took part in the annual conference Gamescom-2018.
CEO LeoGaming Alena Shevtsova traditionally shared their experience and gave some advice for companies that are planning to visit the exhibition in the following, 2019.
“In 2018 in the business area of Gamescom was attended by 1037 companies from 56 countries. This “coin” has two sides. With one a number of publishers, developers, and our colleagues in the field offers tremendous opportunities for networking, attracting partners. And if you add to this the fact that LeoGaming again the only company from Ukraine with a stand in the business area – these features are exclusive to us. However, the reverse of the “medal” – the highest level of activity and competition. To be visible – you need to clearly understand the strategy of their work and know the potential partners,” explains Alena shautsova.
The head of FC LeoGaming Alena shautsova told about thorough preparation of the team for the event, which she considers the most important of the year. The scope of the conference is obliged to prepare at least 6 months to begin with, and approval of the list of meetings for the next year and all can go to the previous conference.
“The business area of Gamescom is a three – day intensive course on the development of your business, from which the maximum is not some unattainable goal, and the real demands of the work effectively.
The most productive is the first day when the exhibition is open only for exhibitors and trade visitors – visitors with admission to the business area. Work schedule is painted literally on minutes. But you communicate and work with global leaders in the video game market, which is a unique opportunity for business and gives the best prospects for our business climate and economy in General.”
Alena Shevtsova also gave some advice to anyone planning to start work in the business area for next year. Here are some basic rules for effective work, tested on a three-year experience:
1. Plan in advance. To get to serious companies “on the fly” will not work – meeting-leaves closes 3-4 months before the event. Start planning meetings for next year in October-November, with a maximum in January of the same year.
2. The most important meetings – on the first day. The first day of gamescom – traditional “business day,” when the exhibition is filled with visitors entertainment area. Everyone is trying to catch as much as possible. Consider this and form your schedule of meetings by the formula: “1 day – 60%, 2nd day – 30%, 3rd day – 10%”.
3. Tell me about yourself no more than 2-3 minutes. Standard rule for any business meeting. Time to socialize you a little, the listener’s attention you need to attract from. State the nature of the company’s work in one sentence, and all the information on 4-5 pages the presentation. No amounts of text – short sentences with infographical give the maximum result.
4. Participate in networking. Parties, discussions, informal communication is the best way not only to fix the result of a successful and “fit in”. European and American companies are not accustomed easily to work with colleagues from Eastern Europe. It is important to understand that you not only speak the same language, but share the same values. The fewer communication barriers – the easier it is to work.
